INFOMATION: Ai no Kusabi was origionally a novel by Reiko Yushihara which was made into a Radio drama. The 2 Episodes (Well, part 1 and part 2) that were put on film, from what I saw, dealt more with the tragic relationship between Iason, a blonde elite, and Riki, a mongrel from the slums.

BACKGROUND SYNOPSIS: In the future on the planet Amoi, a group of scientists who seek a means of making a "perfect society" develop a supercomputer called Jupiter, which becomes conscious and takes over the land. The Blonde men of the capital city (Tanagura) are genetically engineed by the supercomputer to be stronger and smarter than humans, who are considered "mongrels" because they reproduce naturally and live outside the capital; relying on the Black Market to make money. The society is organized according to hair color, black being at the bottom, and blonde being at the top. Another important point is that the population is almost all male, most likely to keep the human population down. It is commonplace to have another male as a lover, or "pairing partner" as it is called in the film.

Anyway, Men living in the slums are usually willing to accept positions as "Furniture" (Castrated and used for aesthetic purposes) who guard the Pets of the Elite. Pets are basically bred sex toys used for the Blondies' viewing pleasure (Nothing else but viewing, don't forget how low these people are on the class scale here). They are even sold at auction.

What happens is that Iason Mink, a blondie (most likely the highest ranking one) rescues Riki from almost certain death by some Elite bodyguards. Having nothing else to pay him with, he lets him use his body, then becomes his pet, (His lover too, I might add, ouch! That's Taboo here...) so he dissapears from his Gang for a while and his former pairing partner. This is EXTREMELY scandalous, and neither Iason's blonde buddy, or Riki's best friend are particularily pleased about that fact. Take note that this is not a "Happily ever after" movie, with a bit of sexual content (Though tactfully done and non-graphic) and some violence.
